The following tips will help budget-conscious shoppers like you pick out the perfect gift for that gal on your shopping list who seems to have it all.

Sterling silver is a smart value, so you can’t go wrong buying her fine quality jewelry crafted of this alluring”and affordable”precious metal. Sterling silver is about forty times less expensive than white or yellow gold, yet every bit as elegant and flattering.

The right CZ is almost impossible to distinguish from the real thing. It’s a clever replica designed to look genuine. It’s deceptive, it pretends to be something it’s not and, if you’re shopping for a romantic gift, it sends the wrong message. Forgo the fabulous fakes. Gift her with rings and pendants accented with semi-precious gemstones like garnet, peridot and topaz, and you’ll save more than just money.

Bigger isn’t always better. Bold gold and brilliant, sparkly rocks are fine to wear once in a while, but for day-to-day dress, smaller, less ostentatious designs are more likely to be the rule than the exception. A dainty pearl bracelet, a sterling silver initial pendant, stud earrings, or even a fun anklet are all affordable, work-appropriate pieces that she’ll feel comfortable wearing anytime.

If you want to give her a gift that is truly as unique as she is then you may want to consider a stunning swirly initial necklace crafted by Jennifer Zeuner Jewelry and featured in In Style magazine’s September 2009 issue.Don’t worry, they’re not outdated because they were featured several years ago; in fact Taylor Swift can be spotted wearing her s and Rachel Zoe has been seen wearing another one of Zeuner’s designs. And if you’ve been watching the 2011 season of The Bachelor, you’ve probably noticed the swirly and feminine wave of gold around bachelorette hopeful Michelle’s neck (I know, Michelle’s really not one of the season’s top picks from an eligibility perspective, but she sure has good taste in jewelry!).Zeuner grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she spent many an hour in her father’s clothing factory which gave her ample time to explore the vibrant and colorful fabrics and imagine their qualities in other applications such as her jewelry. It’s because of the movement in the fabrics that she is able to translate the same organic quality to her initial necklace.

We bet you’ve been checking out the Fredericks of Hollywood or Victoria’s Secret catalogues that occasionally come addressed to her in the mail thinking to yourself “hmm, since she gets these catalogues I should probably get her something from one of themafter all; the stuff in here is pretty hot.” Wrong. If she’s like most women, she gets the catalogues because she wants to muse about possibly surprising you one night when she wears something she selected from the pages, and might actually get her feelings hurt that you’ve been poking into her catalogues with what she perceives as duplicitous thoughts. Instead, opt for something that she would never think of buying for herself like a piece of romantic art or a romantic dinner cruise along a local lake, bay or river. Let her know you dream about her with a set of “his and hers” embroidered pillowcases. Create your own gift basket that shows your appreciation for her (and of her) by including a few of her favorite romantic comedies (yes, of which you will watch with her) as well as a bottle of wine and her favorite chocolates. Buy her a gift certificate to a gourmet chocolate-making class and attend with her. Has she been talking about wanting to learn how to SCUBA dive? Then take lessons towards certification with her. Has she been talking about wishing she could find more time for herself? Then offer to start loading and unloading the dishwasher for her every day so she can spend the time however she chooses and then make sure you do it! For the full year. The point is that your gift does not have to involve money; and more importantly, just because you enjoy sneaking peeks at her catalogues does not mean she wants to unwrap something that you chose from one. Wait for the day when she surprises you. It’ll be worth it.

If she works hard to keep your home clean and run your children from school to soccer to piano and back to school again, then you might want to give her a gift of absolute freedom this Christmas. What’s the best way to do that you ask? Hook her up with wireless internet so she can check her email, stay connected to friends, watch her favorite television shows or any other number of personal favorites on her own schedule and away from home. Imagine how she’ll thank you when she comes in from an afternoon spent in the park under an oak tree where she was able to catch the latest episode of Parenthood or The Good Wife without having the distractions of the house or the children. When she can get out with her computer and find her own time and her own space to enjoy herself you bet she’ll come home in a better frame of mind to tackle the tasks that remain on the home front. And before you worry that giving the gift of a wireless connection is akin to giving the gift of an appliance, fear not it is vastly different. When was the last time you saw a washing machine give her goose bumps the way the latest George Clooney film does?

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for that special someone in your life you might want to get a referral from one of the best product samplers in the industry Oprah Winfrey. Thanks to her “favorite things” segments that have been a part of her show since 1997, Winfrey has a list already prepared for 2010 and you can bet it includes some things (many things?) that would make any woman happy! Included are items such as Andre Walker hair care products and what Oprah considers to be the best mac ‘n’ cheese. And while we agree that mac ‘n’ cheese may not be high on very women’s wish lists as a gift-to-get, it’s still a good piece of information to have! Here’s a tip how about a five-year Netflix membership where she can watch her favorite tear jerkers (movies or television series) when they’ve been delivered straight to her door? How’s that for personalized service? If there’s been new additions to the household (children, grandchildren, kittens, or puppies) you might consider a Nikon D3100 digital SLR camera touted to have all the “bells and whistles” a camera pro would want while also functioning as a simple point-and-shoot. And if you really want to wow her, wrap up a gift of jewelry from award-winning designer Judith Ripka. Style are easily available online, but you could always fib and say you went to Beverly Hills to hand select her piece! And if you think Judith Ripka’s pieces look familiar, it’s because celebrities such as Cindy Crawford, Courtney Cox, and Debra Messing are all fans! So there you have it a tons of ideas ranging from mac ‘n’ cheese to baubles and beads!

Before you were a bride-to-be, your friends were there for you. Whether it was that phone call after you kissed another frog, or the anticipation of the big proposal, they’ve seen it all. Now, as your bridesmaids, they’ll be with you through the best and the worst of wedding planning. So how can you show your appreciation? Try one of these three gift ideas.

The Bridesmaid’s Survival Kit

Perfect for the big day (and after), the Bridesmaid’s Survival Kit has everything a girl could need. Whether it’s a hair brush, earring backs, or a breath freshener, this pack of 20 items has what she needs for a quick fix.

Bridesmaid tanks

Spruce up the bachelorette night with fun, flirty tanks. The tanks have the words bridesmaid and maid of honor in jeweled lettering and come in many colors. You can purchase these tanks at most wedding websites and stores, too.

Necklace

One of the most popular gifts for bridesmaids is a necklace. It’s a simple addition to that beautiful gown, but also, something she can wear again. Choose from a delicate stone, or a necklace you can engrave; the options are endless.

Maybe you’ve waited until the last minute and need a good fallback gift or just haven’t been able to come up with something unique this year. Or, in some cases, you haven’t gotten to know someone well enough yet to pick out a very original gift. The good news is that there are a few traditional gift items that will always make a woman smile, no matter what the occasion.

Jewelry: Sure it’s nice to vary the gifts, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a woman who won’t like a nice piece of jewelry. It doesn’t have to be the most expensive piece at Tiffanys, but it also shouldn’t be out of a 25 cent machine. I nice silver necklace that can be worn everyday or a pair of pearl earrings are classic, timeless pieces that never fail.

Perfume: Unless that special someone happens to be allergic to perfume, this is a good standby gift. There is room for error here if you pick something she doesn’t like the smell of, but most women want to wear something that is enticing to you, so if you liked it, chances are she will too. The most popular fragrance lines such as Burberry, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, and Dior are popular for a reason and make great gift options.

A Silk Robe: Every woman likes a nice bathrobe and we certainly don’t want flannel from a boyfriend or husband. A silk robe has a subtle sexiness without the risk of making her feel uncomfortable or self conscious. The sizing for a robe is also much more generic than most clothing, so the risk of getting the wrong size is much lower. That pink Victoria Secret’s box is sure to make her smile.

Bath and Beauty Products: This is a good fallback but can get old quickly. A basket of delicious-smelling lotions and shower gels is a free pass you can use on occasion. Unless you manage to pick her least favorite smell or something that makes her break out in hives, there’s little way to go wrong with this gift but it also won’t be anything she brags to her friends about. Bath and Body Works can be a bailout, just don’t make it a habit.

We get that buying gifts for the females in your life is both difficult and probably one of your least favorite things to do.nevertheless, you still have to do it. Hopefully whoever you are buying for is understanding enough to accept that every gift won’t be perfect and every now and then you’ll slip up and buy us something we just don’t want. But to help avoid this catastrophe as often as possible, we’ve come up with a few categories of gifts you should steer clear of. Think of these items as the Kevin Federlines of the gift world.

The Practical Gift: A gift is meant to be something that you wouldn’t ordinarily buy for yourself. Never buy a woman something that she “needs” like an appliance or a new vacuum cleaner. These gifts are also things that require work whether it be cooking or cleaning. A gift should bring some luxury or relaxation, not housework. Some women might also take offense to a house item as these can suggest an underlying stereotype that women belong only in the kitchen and the bedroom.

The Suggestion: Any item, whether intended or not, that suggests a women should be doing something, or more of it, is a recipe of disaster. A recipe book implies she should cook more and a workout machine or gym membership suggests there is weight to lose, which is ALWAYS a touchy subject. If there is something you want to say, don’t use a holiday to do it.

Unreturnable Gifts: As great and perfect as you think your gift might be, there’s a chance she actually already has one, it doesn’t match, or doesn’t fit and then she’s left with a useless gift and you’re empty handed. In general, it’s a good idea to stay away from clothes as a gift for a women, but if you’re brave enough to try, definitely make sure its returnable because this is the easiest gift to mess up.

Vouchers: No we’re not talking about gift certificates to our favorite restaurant or the spa; those are great! The “no good” vouchers are the homemade kind for your personal services. As cute and creative as you think that never-expiring offer for a back massage or control of the remote all night may be, it makes us think you forgot all about a gift and had to scribble out some unoriginal favors on construction paper. Besides, most of these things are simple acts you should be doing for us from time to time anyway.

Women like to play this fun little game where we speak in codes and say the opposite of what we really mean. Actually, we don’t consciously do it, and there’s no real explanation or logic behind it. Being able to read between the lines of our gift hints will take you a long way in finding the right gift for any occasion.Even though you may mean it, when we say “you don’t have to get me anything,” we don’t really mean that at all. If you take this to heart and show up empty handed you will probably have an unhappy lady on your hands. Even if you and your significant other agree to forego presents for a certain holiday, at least get her a card or a small gift. This shows that you are mostly sticking with the agreement but aren’t forgetting completely. It’s also very important to listen for the subtle hints. Few women will come right out and say what they actually want. And no, there’s no explanation for this. If your girlfriend tries on a perfume in Belk and says she likes it, make a mental note. Don’t immediately ask us if she wants that for her birthday or Valentine’s Day. We like to be surprised and enjoy the idea that you pay attention and remember what we say. If she repeatedly talks about how much she wish she could go get a massage or a facial at the spa, get her a gift certificate to a local salon. If she mentions she wants to join a gym, DO NOT buy her a gym membership. That is not a hint! Do not mistake it for one. Be sure to not buy a downgraded version of what she has hinted at either. If she has mentioned several times how neat the new iPod touch is and you plan on getting her anything in that category, go with what she suggested. If you show up with a tiny iPod shuffle, she’ll think you heard her but decided not to spend very much.

Homemade gifts show a great deal of care and usually take significantly more time and effort than picking up a gift from a store or ordering it online. When given on appropriate occasions and carefully considering the personality of the recipient, these gifts can be a huge hit. A homemade gift is probably not the best idea for your 25th wedding anniversary or your wife’s 40th birthday; basically any monumental occasion when a woman’s likely to expect something with a nice price tag. When you decide to give a woman a homemade gift think about how much she’d actually appreciate it not just how nifty you think it is. Someone who appreciates craftiness and handwork is much more apt to enjoy this kind of gift than someone drawn to designer labels and expensive brands. The success or failure of a homemade gift lies in its usefulness. Try to pick a project that is relevant to the recipients hobbies and interests, otherwise it will end up as clutter. If your wife, mother, etc., enjoys cooking you could sew her a new apron using patterns and styles that can be found online. If you enjoy cooking, baking your specialty bread or fruitcake is another popular gift idea for less important gifts such as to coworkers at the office or distant relatives at Christmas. If you don’t have a favorite recipe yet, check out the Food Network site for some new ideas. If you’re making a gift for a gardener, purchase a standard watering can at Lowe’s or Home Depot and paint a unique design on it or even stencil in a monogram. Another homemade gift that is great no matter what someone’s interests is a t-shirt quilt. This might require that you giveaway the idea beforehand, but ask for some old, no longer worn t-shirts and use the patterns and images to create a quilt of memories. Many of the t-shirts were probably souvenirs from trips or favorite restaurants and can make a thoughtful, unique gift that any woman would love.
